We’ve lost track of the number of families we’ve helped on DIY SOS: The Big Build and every single one is so special.  The latest family we helped was the Pollard family in Bristol.

Following a series of events which left 24 year old Ryan with brain damage and partial paralysis, the family home needed serious work to care for Ryan’s needs.  After 5 years in hospital 50 miles away from his family, the DIY SOS team managed to adapt the home, which included our ABW6 height adjustable wash basin in his new downstairs wet room, and bring Ryan home.

On seeing his newly adapted home, Ryan thanked everyone involved,

“All I wanted was to come home and be with my family.  I missed my parents, brother and sister every day and found it hard to know I can’t be with them all, or speak to them when I want to.

The last 5 years have been the hardest of my life.  I was ripped away from my family because of what happened to me but you have brought me home.

You will never know the difference this will make to my life allowing me once again to be with my family.  We can all look to the future together now and won’t feel so alone.

I can’t believe this is real but I am finally home.

I’m home”
