Yesterday, Barleylands Farm Park and Craft Village officially opened its new  Modular Changing Places Toilet. The team there are thrilled to now have accessible toilet facilities for people with complex needs, and they are sure that it will benefit their visitors. They are now working to install a second unit within their Craft Village area.

Cllr Anthony Hedley attended and cut the ribbon. They were also joined by Jo Mason & Hazel North Stephens from Essex County Council Shortbreaks for Disabled Children & Young People in Essex, alongside Shelley Simmonds and Lynette Gomes, advisors for Accessibility and Inclusion, and members of the Disability Inclusion Society.

We were very pleased to be involved with the project, providing initial advice and assisting with the siting and design of the building in the early stages. We then worked in partnership with Healthmatic to provide the modular building, and supplied and installed the internal equipment.

Barleylands in Billericay is owned by the Philpot family who started farming in 1937 on Potton Island, with just 10 acres of arable land. Today, after three generations of Philpot farmers, careful strategic planning, land management and business diversification, the Philpot family now farms a total of 12,800 acres in Essex and Suffolk and owns one of South East England’s most popular educational farming and craft centre attractions – Barleylands.
