Local residents and campaigners thrilled with Maidstone’s new Changing Places Toilet

Residents of Maidstone are thrilled to have a brand-new Changing Places Toilet in Fremlin Walk Shopping Centre, right in the heart of the town centre.

Last year, local campaigning group Need2Change asked Changing Places users where they would most like to see a Changing Places in Maidstone. One of the top priorities was Maidstone Town Centre. Local Changing Places user and campaigner Louise from Accessible Toilets has also been working hard to get one installed.
Maidstone Borough Council applied for funding from the DLUHC Changing Places Programme (supported by Changing Places UK) and the new facility has just been installed, providing much needed accessibility to Maidstone town centre.

Astor Bannerman installed the new Changing Places Toilet, and it was opened on Monday 18th September by Deputy Mayor Councillor Martin Cox.

The equipment in the Changing Places toilet includes:

– ABW-CP Height Adjustable Wash Basin

– Peninsular Toilet

– KwickScreen Wall Mounted Privacy Screen
