Project Goals and Requirements

Project Process and Approach
Initial Assessment and Planning
The report from the Occupational Therapist detailing the issues with the previous bath helped guide the team in selecting the Astor Kiva bath. Gary Mercer demonstrated how the neatfold stretcher and bath supports could meet the client’s specific needs. This hands-on approach helped the family make an informed decision about the best solution for the user’s comfort and safety.
Team Members Involved
The project was managed by Gary Mercer, Sales Account Manager (South East), who coordinated with the installations and engineering teams to ensure a seamless process.
Installation Process
The existing bath was removed by a third-party contractor, who also completed the required amendments to the plumbing and electrics. Astor Bannerman provided the contractor with a comprehensive pre-installation guide to ensure all modifications were completed to specification. Once the adjustments were finished, the Kiva bath was delivered and installed.

Outcome and Client Feedback
The completed project met the client’s needs effectively, offering a much-improved bathing solution that prioritises comfort and practicality. The Astor Kiva bath and neatfold stretcher have proven to be a better fit for the client compared to their previous bath. The user is now able to sit comfortably in the bath with the support of the body cushion, which helps to keep them submerged and warm for longer periods, enhancing their overall bathing experience.
The neatfold stretcher has also been a welcome addition, as it provides a more comfortable surface for drying and changing compared to the platform of the previous bath. While there were minor adjustments required after installation – such as adding extra drainage holes to the stretcher and providing grip strips for additional comfort – these were quickly resolved by the team.
The client’s mother noted some initial difficulty with water spillage when using the shower before folding the neatfold stretcher, but it was explained that the shower can be operated after folding, which has addressed her concerns.
The family is delighted with the overall comfort and useability of the Astor Kiva Bath and neatfold stretcher and expressed how pleased they are with the way that this assisted bath has improved their bathing experience.
