It’s been a busy time for Astor-Bannerman recently. Last week we attended the Care Forum event as part of the launch of our Active Bathing assisted bathing range specifically for dementia care within a care home environment. We also attended the annual Kidz South exhibition in Reading.
Kidz South is organised by Disabled Living, a charity who provide impartial information about assisted technology and services for disabled people and the professionals who support them. The exhibition is one of the largest free exhibitions in the UK dedicated to the needs of children and young adults with disabilities and additional needs.
The exhibition is always a great event for Astor-Bannerman and this year we displayed a new modern look and demonstrated our ‘Rio’ height adjustable bath complete with lights, spa, music and Neatfold Stretcher which definitely seemed to draw people onto our stand. There was significant interest in our patented Neatfold stretcher too which is completely unique to Astor-Bannerman and makes drying and changing over the bath much easier when used in conjunction with a mobile or XY ceiling hoist.
This video taken at the Kidz South Exhibition this year shows a step by step demonstration of how the Neatfold Stretcher works and why hundreds of people use one every single day.
We also had interest in our body support cushions which make bathing much more comfortable and hold the gather in place as well as our height adjustable wash basin. Our hi lo basin was a real hit too and is one if the first products ever to be launched by Astor-Bannerman and although it has seen many upgrades and design changes over the years, it still remains at the core of our product range and is specified by the Muscular Dystrophy campaign.
Take a look at this photo of blogger and media graduate Holly Bea who fell in love with our ABW wash basin at the exhibition and even listed it as one of her highlights of the day saying
“Those of you that follow me on social media will of already seen this but this sink but it really is amazing. I’ve not been able to use a sink in years so knowing that there is a sink that is fully adjustable and adapted would be a complete game changer- No more using cups and bowls in the morning.”
We also had some great feedback from people who already have Astor-Bannerman equipment with one mum saying
“I have your Kiva bath and it has completely changed our lives and saved my son from going into care!”
We love to know that our equipment and services really do make a difference to people’s lives and all Astor-Bannerman staff remind themselves of this daily which allows us to offer a personal touch.
New for Kidz South this year was the addition of the Mobiloo mobile Changing Places toilet facility which got a great deal of use. Last year we had the pleasure of supplying our ‘Nivano’ wall mounted changing bench in this ground breaking facility to allow people to be changed with dignity when out and about. As co-sponsors of the Changing Places campaign (Aveso) we know the importance of having this equipment available to make trips out much easier and reduce stress. The Mobiloo is available to hire for events near you and you can find out more by visiting http://mobiloo.org.uk/mobiloo/ and you can watch it in action here,
So thank you to everyone who stopped by to see us and we would like to thank you all for your continued support. To see which other exhibitions we will be at this year, be sure to check out our exhibitions page.
