We’re excited to be able to finally let people know about an exciting TV project we recently assisted with and have had to keep under wraps until now…
As you may know, Astor-Bannerman have been involved in numerous DIY SOS Big Build home transformations to help change the lives of disabled people and their families across the UK, something which is incredibly important to us. Our most recent project was even bigger than ever and saw the creation of a new Changing Places facility at Blackpool Carers Centre as part of DIY SOS: Million Pound Build for BBC Children in Need.

This was no exception.
A quick turnaround was needed and we decided to donate the Astor-Bannerman ‘Multicare’ trolley to the project which is a 2m hydraulic height adjustable mobile shower and changing unit. The Multicare is incredibly easy to use and has Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg feature for specialist care. It also has dual rocking-castor suspension for comfortable and smooth movement, even ride over difficult surfaces and the waterproof stretcher plate combined with powder coated stainless steel frame construction provides years more life than comparable mild steel trolleys – especially when used in wet or humid environments.
Blackpool Carers Trust provides limited out-of-school respite and training activities as well as peer support for young carers. Supported with funding from BBC Children in Need, Blackpool Carers Trust provides much-needed support to children and young adults who care for their ill parents and family members.
The Carers Trust inherited a broken, enormous neglected building in need of a dramatic reinvention to create an inspiring and colourful base for youths with caring responsibilities.

We are astonished by the efforts of the team, people who have donated materials and volunteers; the support has been beyond what we could have ever imagined. This renovation will enable us to help improve the lives of more children and young people with caring responsibilities who are in need of our support both now and in the years to come.”
