Enhancing accessibility and inclusivity is at the heart of what we do. Recently, our team visited Scotland’s vibrant capital, Edinburgh, to explore some of our Changing Places installations and see firsthand how they are transforming the travel and shopping experiences for individuals with disabilities.

Our journey took us to Waverley Station and St James Quarter, where fully-equipped Changing Places Toilets provide essential facilities for all travellers.

Waverley Station: A Gateway to Accessible Travel

Waverley Station, located in the heart of Edinburgh between the city’s historic Old Town and vibrant New Town, is one of the busiest railway stations in the United Kingdom. As a major transport hub, it sees millions of passengers passing through each year. For individuals with disabilities, having accessible facilities at such a crucial location is vital.

We are proud to have installed a Changing Places Toilet at Waverley Station, ensuring that travellers with a range of disabilities have access to the facilities they need. This Changing Places Toilet is radar key operated and is conveniently located near the main concourse, close to Platform 2.

St. James Quarter: Shopping with Accessibility in Mind

St James Quarter, Edinburgh’s premier shopping destination, is another location where we have installed a state-of-the-art Changing Places Toilet. This vibrant shopping center, located at the east end of Princes Street, offers a world-class retail experience and is committed to being inclusive for all visitors.

The Changing Places Toilet in St James Quarter is equipped to meet the needs of all individuals, including those requiring bariatric support with our Bariatric OT400 Ceiling Track Hoist: This robust ceiling track hoist is designed to support higher weight capacities, ensuring safe and comfortable transfers for all users.

Exploring Accessible Edinburgh

During our visit, we had the opportunity to explore more of what makes Edinburgh an accessible city. From its historic landmarks to modern attractions, Edinburgh is increasingly accommodating the needs of all its visitors.

Edinburgh Castle: One of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks, Edinburgh Castle has made significant efforts to improve accessibility. Ramps and lifts are available in key areas, and the staff are trained to assist visitors with disabilities.

The Royal Mile: Stretching from the castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Royal Mile is equipped with dropped kerbs and accessible entrances to many shops, cafes, and attractions.

Princes Street Gardens: These beautiful gardens provide a serene escape in the city center, with wide, flat paths that are wheelchair accessible.

Our visit to Edinburgh reinforced our commitment to enhancing accessibility through our Changing Places installations. We are proud to support facilities that allow everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, to travel with confidence and dignity.
